About Brian Staley

Brian Staley was a Canterbury businessman, Liberal Democrat City Councillor, and Gurkha campaigner. He became a close friend of the Gurkha community that had settled in Kent and was instrumental in starting the Gurkha Justice Campaign.

He helped enlist Joanna Lumley to the cause and successfully lobbied the UK Government for fairer treatment of Gurkha veterans. Sadly, Brian passed away at the age of 81.

Brian authored the book My Road from Saigon. His family generously donated copies to the Folkestone Nepalese Community Charity to support fundraising.

We are deeply thankful to Brian and his family for their generosity and lasting contribution.
