Volunteer Placements & Community Participation

The Folkestone Nepalese Community (FNC) welcomes volunteers and placement students who wish to support community activities while gaining meaningful experience in the voluntary and community sector.

Volunteering at the Folkestone Nepalese Community Centre (FNC Centre) plays an important role in helping us deliver cultural, educational, wellbeing, and community programmes across Folkestone, Kent, and beyond.

Why Volunteer with FNC?

Volunteering with FNC offers opportunities to:

  • Gain experience in a charity and community setting

  • Develop skills in community engagement, events, culture, administration, and wellbeing

  • Support Nepalese and British Gurkha communities

  • Build confidence, employability, and social connections

  • Contribute positively to local community life

Volunteers enhance, but do not replace, the work of paid staff.

Volunteer Placements

FNC offers supported volunteer placements, including placements linked to:

  • Universities and colleges

  • Health, nursing, and social care courses

Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Support

FNC is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all volunteers.

  • Volunteers are supported in line with FNC’s Volunteering Policy, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Data Protection policies

  • Some roles may require a DBS check, depending on the nature of the activity

  • All volunteers receive appropriate guidance, supervision, and support

Volunteering does not create an employment relationship.
