The main symptom of coronavirus are any one or more of the following:

  • High temperature
  • New, continuous cough
  • Loss of sense of smell or test

If you are not sure or if you are worried, you can check with NHS 111 Online Coronavirus service

Please call 111 if you were not able to get help online. 

(The 111 phone service can get an interpreter to help you.)

If you have any symptom, you will have to take a Covid 19 test. The test can be done by:

  • Visiting a NHS test site at The Stadium Car Park, Church Road, or
  • At home with a test kit (within 5 days of having symptom)

Testing sites

There are two testing sites set for Folkestone set up by the local authority for testing without symptom(s)

  • Folkestone and Hythe – Folkestone Library, 2 Grace Hill, Folkestone CT20 1HD
  • Folkestone and Hythe – Hawkinge Community Centre, Heron Forstal Avenue, Hawkinge, Folkestone CT18 7FP

You can also check with your workplace, university or school as they may offer you a rapid lateral flow test.

The NHS Test and Test app is simple to use. It informs you if you have come in close contact with someone who has tested positive to Covid 19.  The app will also advice if you need to isolate and for how long. The logo of the app as shown below.

The app is available in both Apple Ios Store and Android Play Store. You can click on the respective link below to download.

You will need to isolate for 14 days if

  • you have any symptoms of coronavirus 
  • you’ve tested positive for coronavirus
  • someone you live with has symptoms or tested positive
  • someone in your support bubble has symptoms and you’ve been in close contact with them since their symptoms started or during the 48 hours before they started
  • someone in your support bubble tested positive and you’ve been in close contact with them since they had the test or in the 48 hours before their test
  • you’ve been told you’ve been in contact with someone who tested positive

Need financial help during self-isolation?

If you are asked to self-isolate by the NHS Test and Trace app, you could be get financial support from the Folkestone and Hythe District Council. Click me

From 15 February 2021 onwards –

IF you are travelling from Nepal (or any country) AND not been to or travelled via the red list countries you will need to:

  1. Self isolate in a specific address for 10 days
  2. Take Covid 19 tests on day 2 and day 8 of your quarantine.

IF you are travelling from Nepal (or any country) OR  from any red list countries  OR / AND  been to or travelled via the red list countries in the last 10 days prior to your arrival to the UK, you will need to:

  1. Self isolate in a ‘government approved hotel’ for 10 days
  2. Take Covid 19 tests on day 2 and day 8 of your quarantine

The NHS will contact you to offer you a vaccine when it is you turn. You will be contacted by letter, text or email.

Stage one is in two parts:

8 March

  • All schools and colleges reopen, although secondary schools can phase their students’ return to allow for Covid testing
  • University students can return for practical courses. There will be a review by the end of the Easter holidays for all other students
  • Face coverings are recommended in class for secondary school students and also for parents and staff in primary schools
  • Wraparound childcare can also return for vulnerable pupils and where it is needed for parents or carers to go to work, support groups or to seek medical care
  • Two people from different households can meet outside for recreation, which can include “a coffee on a bench”
  • One nominated person can visit care homes, but will need PPE, a lateral flow test and to “keep physical contact to a minimum”
 

29 March

  • People will be allowed to meet outside, either with one other household or within the “rule of six”, including in private gardens
  • The stay at home rule will end, but the government will urge people to stay local as much as possible
  • Outdoor sport facilities will reopen, including golf courses and tennis and basketball courts
  • Formally organised outdoor sports can also restart
  • Parents and children groups can return but are capped at 15 and must be outdoors. Indoor groups can take place for vulnerable children and where parents need the groups to go to work
  • Weddings attended by up to six people can take place in any circumstances
